Ø  National

·         The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh along with Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated India’s first Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) for Skilling in Smart Cities, in collaboration with New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).

·         Gujarat-cadre IPS officer Rakesh Asthana was appointed the special director of the Central Bureau of Investigation. (CBI).

·         The 3-day grand finale of Paryatan Parv, a nation-wide celebration of tourism, will begin in New Delhi. The 21-day Paryatan Parv was organized by the Tourism Ministry in collaboration with other Central Ministries, State Governments, and other stakeholders.

·         Defence Minister, Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman left for the Philippines to attend the Southeast Asian Defence Ministers’ Meeting.

·         External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj called on Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka discussed ways to deepen bilateral co-operation.

·         According to Geological Survey of India, Raw food items sold in Kolkata city markets have Lead concentration far above the permissible limit.

·         Rajasthan government has passed an ordinance which seeks to protect both serving and former judges, magistrates and public servants in Rajasthan from being investigated for on-duty action without its prior sanction.

·         NASA has authorized a second extension of the Dawn mission at Ceres, the largest object in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

Ø  Banking and Business

·         The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) announced the appointment of Jayant Rikhye as the Chief Executive Officer for India.

·         Electric carmaker Tesla signed a deal with the Shanghai government to set up its own manufacturing facility in the city’s free-trade zone in China.

·         Gaganjeet Bhullar lifted his eighth Asian Tour title at the Macau Open.

·         Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation will finally get a dedicated encroachment removal department.

Ø  Sports and Entertainment

·         The playback singers Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan and music composers Usha Khanna, Bappi Lahiri, Anu Malik selected for the Madhya Pradesh government’s prestigious National Lata Mangeshkar Award.

·         Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth lifted the Denmark Open Superseries trophy at Odense, Denmark. He defeated South Korea’s Lee Hyun-il in straight games, 21-10, 21-5 to bag his third Super Series title of the year and fifth overall.

·         India beats Malaysia 2-1 in the finale to win the 2017 Asia Cup Hockey tournament held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

·         Chandigarh hoopster Amjyot Singh became the third Indian after Satnam Singh and Palpreet Singh Brar to walk into the National Basketball Association (NBA) league.
